Ready or not, summer is here! Warmer weather means school is out, vacations are underway, and the office dynamic shifts for the next few months. When preparing for the summer, it is essential to prep your printer and modify how paper and consumables are stored to ensure seamless quality printing all summer long. Once your printer and printing supplies are appropriately stored, make use of Xerox’s added features to clean and organize your space.
Heat is an enemy of any electronic device and printers are no exception. Excessive heat can cause delicate components to rupture which leads to paper jams, decreased print quality, and a myriad of other issues. While it is common to raise the temperature in a building that is going to be vacant for an extended period of time, we recommend storing your copy machine in a place where the temperature will consistently be between 68 degrees Fahrenheit and 76 degrees Fahrenheit.
In addition to your copier, we strongly recommend storing printing supplies such as copy paper, toner/ink, drums, transfer belt cleaners, etc. in similarly cool conditions, out of direct sunlight, in relatively stable humidity. Too much humidity can cause paper to warp, curl, and ultimately jam inside your copy machine. Deploying a dehumidifier is a great solution to this. Light exposure has been known to damage drum cartridges, so leaving the door to the copier open for any length of time is advised against.
The slower pace of summer provides a great opportunity to reorganize. Xerox provides great options to assist with this, such as the scan to cloud option – rather than keeping a large pile of documents on your desk, you can scan them to the cloud, thus saving space and keeping your desk clutter-free.
