ROCHESTER, N.Y. —

Jazz music has always celebrated individual style and the freedom for musicians to improvise with melody. As the lead sponsor of the 2017 Xerox Rochester International Jazz festival, Xerox has made personalization a major theme by giving patrons the chance to make festival merchandise their own.

In its 9th year as title sponsor, Xerox plans to make its most innovative technologies available on site for attendees to experience firsthand.

Xerox Direct to Object Printer
Visitors to the merchandise tent will be able to personalize items they purchase using Xerox’s Direct to Object Printer, which prints directly on 3D objects in minutes. Festival patrons will be able to choose from a sleeve of golf balls, a wine tumbler, a water bottle or a notebook to personalize from a selection of Jazz Festival-themed images and add their name for a unique and personal memory of the 2017 Rochester International Jazz Festival. The personalized images are produced through Xerox’s own XMPie® sotftware.

Mobile Print solutions via ConnectKey
Xerox is also bringing back a fun, personalized photo opportunity for festival attendees to take their picture against a green screen at the “Express Yourself Photo Experience”, located in the merchandise tent. After the photo is taken, attendees will automatically receive an email prompt to print their photo using Xerox’s Mobile Print App. The photo will print via one of Xerox’s newly launched ConnectKey devices. For those who would like to participate, donations will be collected as part of a campaign to benefit Daystar, New York State's first and only Pediatric Day-Respite Center.

Xerox Printed Memory
This year, Jazz Festival organizers will recognize patrons who purchase festival passes with rewards. Everyone who purchases a three-day or nine-day pass will receive a recognition card embedded with Xerox’s Printed Memory technology – a secure electronic label that can collect and store information. Pass holders can bring the card to the merchandise tent, located on Jazz Street, where a Printed Memory card reader will tell pass holders what prize they have won. Prizes are split into three levels with one additional grand prize.

“Innovation and creativity are core to what we do at Xerox,” said Steve Hoover, chief technology officer, Xerox. “So we’re happy to sponsor an event that celebrates Jazz, a creative American music tradition. That patrons can personalize merchandise using our technology, gives us the opportunity to share what we’re about in a fun and exciting environment.”

All festival passes are printed on a Xerox iGen® 4 Press at Tucker printers. This year, Fast Pass wristbands are available for shows at two of the busiest venues. Concertgoers who show up early receive wristbands and a time to come back for the show. So instead of standing around hours before, they’re free to enjoy other activities around the festival and return at a time when they can head right in. The wristbands are printed on a Xerox Versant® Press with fraud-resistant specialty imaging effects to ensure only paid attendees get in and counterfeiters are kept out.
